Prioritizing student voice and choice have been central to the founding mission of the Upper School. As we continually expand and refine our curriculum, student leadership is crucial in this process. The Student Curriculum Leadership Council is composed of Juniors and Seniors (15 total). This group meets once per month, facilitated by the Academic Dean and other faculty. The term of membership is 1 year, with the to re-apply annually. This group will provide feedback on program and will work with faculty to directly contribute to school initiatives and processes, including:
● Annual Curriculum Development
● Course Selection and Registration (including presentation nights)
● Admission Recruitment and Admitted Student Programs
● Standards and Policies for Homework, Assessment and Reporting
● Signature Programs and Academic Initiatives
● Student Support Programs
Membership:
Members of the committee should be:
● Students in strong academic standing,* who have demonstrated active and ambitious engagement with the Upper School’s Academic Program.
● Students who have embraced the Upper School’s goal-oriented curriculum and have demonstrated growth toward the capacities of the Portrait of a Learner.
● Students who have led in fostering a community of respect, collaboration, ambition, and curiosity in the classroom.

Application Process:
Each spring, the Academic Office facilitates an application process for membership on the Council. Applicants must be members of the rising 12th or 11th Grade classes. Applicants will be asked to submit an application through GoogleForms, consisting of a 1-paragraph response to each of 3 essay questions. The Academic Dean’s office will review the applications, and the Upper School Academic Leadership Team will select the Council members for the school year.
