Mr. Cornejo

Math 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

Hello EPIC Families:

My name is Mr. Juan Cornejo. I am delighted to be the math teacher for your middle school scholar. I come from a varied background. I graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in Finance and Risk Management & Insurance. After college, I joined the corporate world but soon realized that I was not suited to sit behind a desk for eight hours a day. Upon this realization, I joined the construction world. I really enjoyed being a construction worker. I got to make use of my critical thinking skills, as well as my hands. To me, this was the best of both worlds.

After my daughter was born, in June of 2013, I decided that spending my life on the road as a construction worker, was not conducive to spending quality time with her. I decided that it was time for a career change. My sister, who is a teacher with San Juan Unified, knew that I have a knack for working with children and young adults. She dragged me to the Sacramento County Office of Education Internship orientation. The more I heard about the program, the more I fell in love with the idea of becoming a teacher. As the saying goes, “The rest is history.” I joined the Sacramento County Office of Education Internship Program, which allowed me to pursue my passion for teaching.

In today’s ever changing economy, it is important to have a well rounded education. I am excited to be able to play a part in shaping the young minds of tomorrow’s leaders. I firmly believe that every child has the potential to achieve whatever level of success he or she is after. To me, success is a matter of will and discipline. My role as your scholar’s teacher will be to insist upon discipline conducive to good study habits. I want your child to be well prepared and be able to seize opportunity, when opportunity presents itself. It is my privilege to be a partner in your child’s educational journey!

Sincerely,

Juan Cornejo
