I have worked at GCC since 1997, first as an adjunct faculty and then as a full-time residential faculty. I grew up in El Paso, TX. I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Geology from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX (Go Frogs!) and a Master’s of Science in Geology with a focus in volcanology from Arizona State University. My first love has always been science and when Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980, I was fascinated. I have also wanted to be a teacher, even getting written up in the local paper when I told my 2nd grade teacher that I was going to teach! So - my job here at GCC joins my two loves - geology & teaching. I hope you will see my enthusiasm for my subject and for teaching in our interactions!
My family includes a husband of 20+ years, a teenage son, 3 cats and 2 leopard geckos. I love to travel when I can, especially if there are scenic views and rocks to see. My hope is to bring the love of geology to life so that I can encourage others to enjoy the natural world around them. I hope I can help others see the world and its geologic wonders the way I do. There’s so much to see & do! Let’s do it!
