Our Mission
The Mission of Gulf Coast Charter Academy South, is to foster pride in academic achievement for all students, coupled with a concerted effort focused on the ELL (English Language Learner) population, through the STEM Model (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning opportunities, resulting in higher student learning outcomes, concurrently with teaching lifelong fitness and developing the student's creative ability. We strive to provide the students with an environment to learn and be successful in a safe and orderly school.
Our Vision
The vision of Gulf Coast Charter Academy South is to establish an authentic learning community and environment, which will lead to greater academic achievement for all students. While authentic learning is a process that elevates all students to higher degrees of learning, our focus will be on English Language Learners, (which represents one out of five students in the State of Florida) using a STEM approach.
STEM is the integration of science, technology, engineering, and math across the curriculum and STEAM includes the integration of the arts. STEAM education helps students develop lifelong skills that govern their thinking ability and behavior. By interweaving science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, STEAM education helps us to solve the challenges the world faces today by developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Programs We Offer
KnowAtom’s curriculum launches students on a yearlong process of hands-on discovery in three dimensions. The lessons build a big-picture narrative of what science and engineering are and use storylines to bring the content to life in scenarios where students investigate phenomena and design solutions to problems.
Amazon Future Engineer is a comprehensive childhood-to-career program aimed at increasing access to computer science education for children and young adults from underserved and underrepresented communities. We offer this program to our middle school students. Mrs. Salmons is the amazing STEM teacher who runs this program.
