Cadet Promotions

NJROTC Cadets at Gloucester High earn Advancement (Promotion) to the next higher rank by successfully completing a series of written tests, practical tests, verbal tests, participation credits, and academic grades in both Naval Science courses and all classes.

Promotions are awarded by the Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) during Monthly Formations of the entire Battalion. Cadets who graduate from Basic Leadership Training (Mini Boot Camp) are promoted early to the next rank but must still complete the requirements of the rank they are promoted to. Cadet Officers are promoted based on merit to fill positions within the Cadet Staff.

Advancement requirements may be completed in class on Fridays or after school during academic team days with the Academic Team Commander. Cadets must score 80% on written tests and may take up to 2 written test per day but may not re-take a failed test on the same day.
