The Department of Environmental Science at Gautam Buddha University was established in July 2011 under the University School of Vocational Studies and Applied Sciences (USoVSAS). Since its inception, the department has been committed to advancing knowledge, research, and innovation in diverse areas of environmental science. The department boasts a team of experienced and dedicated faculty members with expertise in a wide range of specializations, including Biodiversity Conservation, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Social Impact Assessment (SIA), Restoration Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Energy and Bioenergy, Sustainable Waste Management, Bioremediation and Phytoremediation, Environmental Monitoring, and Remote Sensing.

With well-equipped laboratories and modern facilities, the department provides an excellent platform for teaching-learning, research, and outreach activities. The academic programs are designed to prepare students for addressing current and future environmental challenges with scientific understanding and practical skills. The department offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in Environmental Science. The B.Sc. (Hons.) program provides students with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of environmental science, while the M.Sc. program emphasizes advanced learning and research in specialized areas. The Ph.D. program is research-intensive, aimed at nurturing scholars for academic, research, and professional careers. In addition to classroom teaching, the department organizes seminars, workshops, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and practical skills. Students are actively encouraged to participate in research projects, field studies, and internships, enabling them to gain hands-on experience in real-world environmental issues.
