Before accessing your email for the first time from outside college, staff will have to install the Microsoft Authenticator app(*) on their mobile phone and follow the steps around Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)
Once this process is complete, staff onsite access to email will continue to be through the desktop Outlook client they currently use - or http://outlook.gbmc.ac.uk for webmail, and they shouldn’t get any further MFA challenges
Offsite access via http://outlook.gbmc.ac.uk will be affected however and when accessing email and other elements of Microsoft 365, you will receive a phone alert from the Microsoft Authenticator that you will need to approve before proceeding.
(*) Please note Microsoft Authenticator app is supported from Android 6.0 and iOS 13.0 upwards.
For those with older or non-smart phones, instructions are provided so that you can receive an SMS text message, or a phone call from Microsoft for authentication.
