Each scholarship is different, and eligibility is determined by the doner/advisory board and defined in the scholarship guidelines/qualifications. Some can be applied for at an early age, others are for graduating students, many are available to specific demographics and some only open to those that have already graduated or are preparing to graduate.
Advisory boards determine if they are willing to hold scholarships for the extra year required by EC students, or make them immediately available as they are incurring college expenses. The short answer is when in doubt review the guidelines and reach out using the contact information, ask the specific questions and share the situation with those that make the decisions.
It's important to note that our GBEC seniors should always apply for our local school scholarships during their traditional senior year, not their 13th year. This has been defined by our local district and coordinated with our donors/advisory boards.
