A student can only have 2 books checked out at a time. Any time you check out a book, it will be due back to the library in two weeks (10 school days). Of those two books, only 1 can be a graphic novel. If you owe books or money to another school, you can only check out 1 book from WC Friday until you get that taken care of.
If you have an overdue book, there is no fine to pay. Just get it back as soon as you can.
If you lose a book, you will be responsible for paying for it. I will send overdue notices to you with our price for the book. Books from elementary schools will have their own pricing from the elementary school librarians.
If you have a lost or overdue book from your elementary school and you have found the book, then you can give the book back to the elementary school, or you can give it to me and I will mail it to the elementary school. If you need to pay for the book, then you will have to contact the elementary school and work it out with them. I am not allowed to handle money for their books at all. In the meantime, you can check out 1 book at a time from our library.
Once you have put a hold on a book you want, you can get it when your ELA class comes into the library, or you can send me an email so we can work out some other time for you to come and pick it up.
I will let you renew a book one time unless it is a book that has been requested by other students.
No, you should not. If you decided you don't want to check the book out, you should set it on one of the "book benches" on top of the bookcase. I or one of my media assistants can shelve the book later. We do this because students often put the book in the wrong place, which makes it hard for other students to find later.
Most of the time, as long as you get the book to me as soon as possible with all of its parts intact, I can fix the book. DO NOT try to glue or tape a book back together yourself. I have to use special book glue and book tape to repair books, and I have those things in the media center. If you think the book is damaged beyond repair, bring it in to me anyway.
If you are an 8th grader, then yes! If you are a 6th or 7th grader, you will have to have a Young Adult Book Permission Form filled out and signed by your parents in order to read YA books.
