The Health Sciences Academy is designed to serve students interested in careers in various health fields. Students can choose from one of the three offered pathways: Allied Health Science, Medical Science, and Dental Science.

Allied Health

Students who choose the Allied Health Science pathway will be introduced to the many jobs available in support positions in hospitals, clinics and other medical facilities. These students will focus on becoming multi-skilled health team members. During their senior year they will spend time rotating through the different areas of a hospital where they will actually be performing entry-level skills. These students will be given the opportunity to acquire Nurse Aide Level I certification upon completion of this pathway.

Dental Science

Students who choose the Dental Science pathway will prepare for careers in the dental field. Students will perform entry-level skills either through on and/or off campus experiences.

Medical Science

Students who choose the Medical Science pathway will prepare to be health care workers in an advanced technical or professional health career. Emphasis in the classroom is placed on research, communication, computer literacy, health team relations, problem solving and decision making. Students in this pathway will spend work-based learning /mentorship with a health care professional during their senior year.
