If a student has lost or damaged their school issued charger, they will need to purchase a replacement. Students may purchase a charger from the school for $25 by emailing aemedlock@gaston.k12.nc.us. Approved chargers may also be purchased for a lower price from Amazon or Walmart.
*All students are required to turn in a charger with their school issued Chromebook at the end of the school year. If a charger is not turned in, the student will be billed $25.

The mission of the Bessemer City Middle School (BCMS) 1:1 initiative is to ensure that Bessemer City Middle School students have consistent and equitable access to the digital tools and resources that will allow them to be effective and responsible digital-age citizens. To reach this goal, each student will be assigned a specific Chromebook, that will be used for their tenure at BCMS. This Chromebook may be used at school and at home to expand their learning opportunities beyond the walls of Bessemer City Middle School as well as to create and design evidences of their individual learning.
Cost
There is no cost to receive the device.
Students are responsible for the cost of a lost or missing Chromebook, charger, or case, and for damage beyond normal use. - Repairs will be on a case by case basis and could range up to full replacement of the item.
Lost, stolen or questionable damage will be reviewed by the administration on a case-by-case basis to determine fees.
Be Responsible
No stickers or writing allowed on the device or accessories which might accompany the Chromebook unless given permission by the Principal.
Follow all procedures when transporting the device.
Students must take measures to protect the device from damage or theft.
At no time shall the device be used for unlawful or inappropriate activities.
Students are not allowed to let others use or be in possession of their assigned device.
Be Respectful
Students must follow the Gaston County Schools Technology Responsible Use Policy (3230/7370) at all times while using district-issued devices. The current policy can be found online at: https://boardpolicyonline.com/?b=gaston&s=153124 or may be obtained at any district school.
Violators of the Technology Responsible Use Policy or items stated in this document will be addressed by the school administration to determine the proper course of action.
When logging in with a GCS account and/or using a GCS device, students will be filtered according to CIPA and COPPA regulations. Additionally, records and activity may be monitored and are subject to investigation by authorized district personnel.
Liability
The intent of this program is for Bessemer City Middle School students educational use only. Should another user violate this intent, GCS will not be held liable for any issues arising as a result. Additionally, Gaston County Schools will not be held liable for any issues arising from non-compliance of the district’s Technology Responsible Use Agreement.
