Significance of the Conference

I             This conference is dedicated to an in-depth examination of a defined historical epoch spanning from the terminal phase of the Bronze Age. This extensive timeline has attracted minimal attention from specialists and researchers thus far, and it holds significant importance for enriching the historical and cultural identity of the Garmian region.

II          It constitutes a critical re-evaluation of Garmian's profound historical legacy and represents a concerted effort to enhance local community engagement with the region's antiquities and historical narrative, thereby fostering broader public cultural awareness.

III        A principal goal is to position the Garmian region at the forefront of academic research, both for local and international scholars, by stimulating inquiry into a multitude of significant and underexplored themes. It will furnish researchers with innovative, period-specific frameworks for original scientific investigation, leveraging the region's abundant archaeological and historical resources.

IV       The conference is designed to tackle intricate historical, geographical, and civilizational inquiries related to Garmian, providing a forum for scholars to transcend conventional academic boundaries. It will adopt a holistic approach, treating the entirety of Garmian's territory as a unified and cohesive geographical entity.

V          It further seeks to promote synergistic collaboration with universities and international academic institutions through joint initiatives. This is intended to act as a catalyst, attracting further interest and engagement from global scholarly organizations and scientific centres in the Garmian region.

VI       The character and identity of any populace are intrinsically linked to the preservation and revitalization of their historical and archaeological heritage. This conference is instrumental in both safeguarding and rejuvenating the cultural legacy of the region, while also illuminating its rich historical identity through the revelation of previously obscured truths.

Aims of the Conference

I. To assemble and synthesize novel archaeological and historical data pertaining to the Garmian region, with the objective of uncovering hitherto concealed historical realities.

II. To elucidate Garmian's role in the dissemination of cultural and civilizational advancements, belief systems, religions, and artistic traditions, contextualizing its influence beyond the local level and within the broader spectrum of regional civilizations.

III. To deliberate upon the archaeological, cultural, and historical value inherent to the Garmian region, and to cultivate awareness among both domestic and international audiences of its rich archaeological repository.

IV. To publicize the importance of Garmian's multi-national and multi-religious history and to promote the spirit of coexistence and mutual acceptance among present and future generations.

V. To disseminate cutting-edge research and innovative technological methodologies that provide novel solutions to persistent archaeological and historical challenges.

VI. To establish a collaborative framework across academic, governmental, and relevant organisations aimed at elevating public awareness and promoting archaeological literacy to inform future societal development.

VII. In contrast to other historical, geographical, social, and cultural fields of study, this specific ancient historical period of the region remains markedly under-researched. This conference represents a pivotal initiative to disclose numerous historical truths and concealed archaeological findings. It will provide an essential platform for researchers and specialists to access a wide array of original research materials conserved in museums, antiquities departments, and archival centres both within Kurdistan and internationally.
