Mr. Salinas is originally from McAllen, Texas and is a graduate of McAllen Memorial High School in 1991. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance (tuba) from Baylor University, and has done post graduate work at University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Texas RGV. Mr. Salinas is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Conducting at the University of Texas at El Paso.
Mr. Salinas has been a music educator since 1998 and a tuba player since 1985. He is currently the Director of Bands at Webb Middle School. Before coming to Garland ISD, Mr. Salinas was the head band director at MacArthur High School in Irving and Bush High School in Richmond. He has also worked as an assistant at Clark Middle School in Frisco, Rowe High School in McAllen, Rivera High School in Brownsville, Berta Cabaza Middle School in San Benito, and Stell Middle School in Brownsville. Mr. Salinas has also worked as the Professor of Tuba at the University of Texas at Brownsville. Mr. Salinas’ bands have received numerous superior ratings and best in class trophies. Mr. Salinas is also a clinician and has given or been a part of clinics at both TMEA and TBA. As a lesson teacher, Mr. Salinas’ students have received first divisions at the region and state level at Solo and Ensemble and have done very well at the TMEA region band auditions with multiple TMEA All-State members. He is a member of TBA, TMEA, TMAA and ITEA.
In his spare time, Mr. Salinas likes to spend time with his wife Amanda and his son Dominick BBQing in his backyard. He is also an avid deer hunter.
Mr. Salinas’s goal is to make the Webb Band not just one of the strongest and largest bands in Garland, but one of the best in Texas.
Mrs. MacAllister is a music educator based out of Plano, Texas and is in her third year of teaching as the Assistant Band Director at Webb Middle School. Mrs. MacAllister currently teaches the beginning woodwind classes, as well as conducts the Symphonic Band and assists with the Wind Ensemble. Mrs. MacAllister is joining the Webb Bear family after graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas Tech University.
At Texas Tech, Mrs. MacAllister studied flute under Dr. Lisa Garner-Santa. She has performed with the Concert and Symphonic bands, and performed in the 2020 CBDNA Regional Conference. Along with performing, Mrs. MacAllister served the university ensembles as the band librarian for two years. She also served as Secretary and Vice President of Membership for the Beta Chapter of the band service sorority Tau Beta Sigma. She currently performs with the Carrollton Wind Symphony.
Mrs. MacAllister's professional affiliations are Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Tau Beta Sigma. During her free time, she spends time with her husband and 2 cats, and has unlimited crochet projects to finish and books to read. She is also trying to kick a Dutch Bros addiction.
