Google Certified Coach
This tailored curriculum provides instructional coaches with tools and strategies that support their 1:1 interactions with educators. The curriculum is designed to be completed sequentially (e.g. follow the lessons in the order they are listed).
You must use your '@garlandisd.net' email address to both sign-in to the online training and register for the certification exam.
You will use Google's Education Training Center online training modules to prepare to take the Google Certified Coach exam.
The information is laid out in an easy to use format with videos, examples, and practice opportunities embedded. At the end of each module, practice exam questions are provided to gauge how well you have internalized the content.
Follow steps 1 - 6 below to complete the online training and your certification process.
Obtain both the Google Certified Educator Level 1 and Level 2 certificates.
Complete the Certified Coach training on Google's Education Training Center
On your device, using the Chrome Browser, navigate to Google's Teaching Center - Certified Coach Curriculum
Click the Log In button in the top right of the page and login using your Garland ISD Google Account
You will now be logged into the training. The system will track your progress in case you have to step away and come back. Click Get Started.
You will then see the modules listed out by unit. Start with Unit #1 and work your way through. The system will track your progress, so you do not have to finish all the modules in one sitting! You may step away and return any time you need. You must make sure you are signed-in in order for the system to remember where you left off.
Complete Coach Skills Assessment
This is the final unit of the Certified Coach Curriculum. It will take about 30 - 45 minutes to complete.
You must earn at least an 80 to submit results on the application.
It MUST be done in one sitting.
Create coaching portfolio for application.
Certified Coaches are required to submit a brief portfolio that shows you've successfully adopted and deployed the 5-step coaching model while working 1:1 with teachers.
The final module of the curriculum explains each part of the portfolio.
There are several components of the portfolio:
A short video that articulates how you used the 5-step model when working with a specific teacher at your school. Make sure to cite each step of the coaching model, as well as the specific challenge that the teacher was facing. The video should be between 3-5 minutes long
A coaching artifact that showcases how you organized your coaching workflow and interactions with teachers in your building(s)
Demonstrate how you organized your coaching time and workflow to ensure that you had strong interactions with teachers in your buildings
A coaching artifact that focuses on data and analysis.
Demonstrate how you measured impact
A coaching artifact that showcases a "bright spot story "from working with teachers, innovation advocates or students
Demonstrate how you captured qualitative measure of impact and/or shared it with your community
