Frequently Asked Questions About the Exams

We receive many unique questions about the test taking experience! However, we also receive many similar questions. Here, we try our best to address common questions and give answers to them. 

Google Certified Educator - Level 1 and 2

Question: Can I take the test on a Chromebook?

Answer: Yes. That being said, we highly advise you take the test on the computer that you are most comfortable with! If that is a PC, then great. If it's a Mac, great...or Chromebook, great! All devices will work. An iPad will not work.

Question: What kind of webcam will I need for the exam?

Answer: You don't need a special webcam for the Certified Educator exams. Your laptop or desktop webcam will work fine as long as you're in a well-lit location. No specific type of webcam is required.

Before you start your exam you'll need to use your webcam to take a picture of yourself.

Question: May I take a break or walk away from my computer during the test to use the restroom or take care of something real quick?

Answer: Yes. Your time will not pause, but you will not be penalized for stepping away from the computer.

Question: May I use notes on the exam.

Answer: Yes. We encourage you to use the notes you created during training! 

Question: May I have another window open on my computer while I test?

Answer: Yes. Google encourages 21st century learning. 

Question: Does the test really take 3 hours?

Answer: Well, that depends! You definitely want to allot three hours in your schedule to take the test so you are not rushed. Whether or not it takes you that long is really up to your familiarity with the G Suite for Education tools.

Question: What happens if I have technical issues with the test?

Answer: You will want to utilize the help feature embedded in your test. Contacting the Digital Learning Team while you're testing will not help you as we do not have back-end access to the test. This is a professional certification exam and Google manages all aspects of the test. 

Question: When will I know if I passed or not?

Answer: Results are now INSTANT! Upon completion of exam you will be provided your results.  We recommend taking a screen shot of your results and be sure to include your name in the picture. 

Question: Can I retake the test if necessary? 

Answer: If you don't pass an exam you can take it again after 3 days. If you don't pass a second time, you must wait 7 days before you can take it a third time. If you don't pass the third time, you must wait 14 days before taking it a fourth time. If you don't pass the fourth time, you must wait 30 days before your account resets so that you can take it again. Payment is required each time you an exam. If you use a voucher for the first test and need to retake it, you will be responsible for fees

Google Certified Coach Assessment

Question: When will I know if I passed the skills assessment or not?

Answer: Results are now INSTANT! Upon completion of exam you will be provided your results. *Remember the skills assessment is only part of your application and the entire application must be submitted and approved before you have earned the Google Coach Certification. 

Question: When will I know if I am a Google Certified Coach?

Answer: Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis. Please allow 4 weeks to hear from Google with your results.  

Google Certified Trainer Skills Assessment

Question: When will I know if I passed the skills assessment or not?

Answer: Results are now INSTANT! Upon completion of exam you will be provided your results. *Remember the skills assessment is only part of your application and the entire application must be submitted and approved before you have earned the Google Trainer Certification. 

Question: When will I know if I am a Google Certified Trainer?

Answer: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. You should receive a notification on your application status within 4-6 weeks of your initial submission.
