CODE OF CONDUCT

BASIC GUIDELINES

  • Do not expect to find things as they are at home. Learn to accept differences and be tolerant.
  • Be patient with others.
  • Take care when carrying your passport.
  • Bear in mind that you are an ambassador of your country and your school.
  • Be punctual for all activities.
  • Have fun!
  • Good participation is expected.
  • Stick to your buddy. Always inform of your whereabouts and make sure someone knows your whereabouts at all times.
  • Listen and follow instructions.
  • Never leave the group and loiter on your own. Remember, you are in a foreign land.
  • Be alert and take care of your belongings.
  • Should you need to purchase any souvenir, be careful how you handle your money.
  • Inform your teacher-in-charge (group) if you feel unwell, injured or if you have lost any valuables.
  • Co-operate with one another.
  • Safety must be observed at all times.
  • Do not remove anything from the hotel without permission.

CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Uphold the good name of the school.
  • Be punctual for all activities and meal times.
  • Be respectful of the customs, culture and taboos of the host country.


GENERAL BEHAVIOUR

  • Be appreciative. Do not comment unfavorably on the service you receive or make comparison with conditions in Singapore.
  • Honour your host by eating what they have provided for you. If your need to reject the food, do so gently but thank your host for providing it.
  • Participate in all activities as set in the programme.
  • Check that your room is securely locked before you leave it and before you go to bed sleep at night. Call the teachers immediately on the phone when you suspect something is wrong.
  • You must attend to your own luggage, especially during embarkation and disembarkation. Always look around to ensure all luggage is taken with the group before proceeding to the next destination.
  • When in doubt, consult someone reliable. Do not take matters into your own hand.
  • Boys are strictly NOT allowed to enter the girls’ rooms and the girls likewise are NOT allowed to enter the boys’ rooms AT ALL TIMES.
  • If you feel unwell, inform your teachers immediately.
  • If you feel harassed, consult the tour guide or any of the teachers.

DO’S AND DON’TS IN HOST COUNTRY

  • Shoes must always be removed when entering a Malaysian home or when visiting places of worship.
  • The traditional Malay greeting or salam resemble a handshake, but with both hands outstretched and without the grasp.
  • The right hand is always used when giving and receiving objects.
  • Muslims only consume halal food (permissible by Muslim law) and only dine in restaurants which are certified halal. Muslims strictly do not consume pork and alcohol.
  • Students are advised to take certain precautionary measures to ensure their personal safety. Safeguard your valuables at all times. Strap or sling your bags when on the move and walk against the oncoming traffic. Keep your handbags and wallets safe and close to you especially when in crowded areas. Avoid entering dark and quiet alleys or staying out until late hours.
