Outdoor Education                                                                                                                               PAD3O1

This extraordinary course provides opportunities for students to become engaged in the beauty of the outdoors while focusing on the development of positive team building and leadership skills, group co-operation strategies, and establishing and overcoming personal challenges. The majority of the course time is spent outside of the traditional classroom, focusing on units of study that include: wilderness first aid, introduction to camping, knot tying, orienteering, and long term trip planning. There will be a variety of experiential learning day trips offered in this course. Additionally, students choosing to enroll in the outdoor education program will be given the opportunity to plan and participate in two separate ‘week long’ excursions. These may include: a winter camping trip, a combined rock climbing and camping trip, a backpacking trip, or a canoe trip. This will be one of the most memorable courses you take in high school. There is a course fee that applies to this program. Please speak with a Phys Ed teacher for more information.
