Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is one of the three CORE subjects where passing is a requirement to gaining IB Diploma.
Up to three bonus IBDP points are awarded according to the combined standard of a student's TOK and Extended Essay (EE). TOK and EE are each independently awarded a grade from A to E, and bonus points are calculated from the matrix below.
Exhibition: The aim of this assessment piece is to explore how TOK manifests in the world around us. This assessment will be completed in Grade 11 and will be internally assessed by our TOK teachers and externally moderated by the IB at the end of the course.
Students will create an exhibit consisting of three objects, or images of these objects, accompanied by three written commentaries discussing an IA prompt (of their choice).
The maximum overall word count for the TOK exhibition (all three commentaries put together) is 950 words.
More information will be shared with students in Term 2 of Grade 11.
Essay of up to 1600 words on an IB Prescribed Essay Title written during Grade 12. Prescribed Essay Titles are published by IB on September 1st, and will be presented and discussed with students before half-term break. Students will work on an individual basis.
This assessment will be marked externally by IB examiners.
Student-Teacher Interactions: Students will meet with their teacher and discuss their work three times prior to submitting their final draft. Under no circumstances should students expect their teachers to discuss their anticipated essay score/grade. Teachers are here to guide - offer advice - only.
More information on the EA can be found on this internal google site.
