Requirements for a six subject IB Diploma:
The IBDP requires that students three subjects to study in detail at Higher Level (HL) and three subjects at Standard Level (SL).
Students must select six subjects by choosing one from each of the groups listed below.
We strongly recommend selecting a Group 6 subject, although an additional subject from Groups 1,2,3 of 4 in lieu of a Group 6 is allowed.
Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) is a Group 3 or a Group 4 subject or both. If both, you may select an additional subject Group 1, 2 or 6.
Requirements for a four subject IB Diploma with Systems Transformation:
If you are selecting our new course Systems Transformation: Leadership for Change, it alters the regular rules around subject selection and combinations for an IB Diploma as follows:
Choose at least 1 but no more than 2 subjects across Groups 1 (Studies in Language and Literature) and Group 2 (Language acquisition)
Choose at least 1 subject from Groups 4 (Sciences) or 5 (Mathematics)
Choose a maximum of 2 subjects from any one subject group
Overall ensure you have chosen 3 Higher Level subjects and 1 subject Standard Level subjects that meet the requirements above
Environmental Systems and Societies (interdisciplinary option, which satisfies requirements of Group 3 and 4)
Analysis and Approaches (AA)
Application and Interpretation (AI)
