Junior School Students (Grades 2–5):
Lessons may be scheduled during the school day, excluding morning break and single-subject classes (e.g. Music, PE, Languages, Art). Lesson times are coordinated with the ITP teacher, parents, and the class teacher. Students should not miss more than 60 minutes of regular classes each week.
Middle and High School Students (Grades 6–12):
Lessons are scheduled during break times, lunchtimes, or after school. We understand that 30-minute lessons may not fit in perfectly with our timetable and therefore will allow lessons to be scheduled no more than 5 minutes into a class session.
Lesson Duration:
Lessons longer than 30 minutes are typically reserved for advanced students or in exceptional cases.
Students are expected to practise at least five days per week. All students must maintain a practice diary, which will be reviewed by their Instrumental Teacher each lesson.
Diary Guidelines:
Depending on the teacher preference, practice dairies can be in paper form or digitally shared.
Parents are encouraged to check the practice diary regularly to stay informed about their child’s progress.
In order to have the missed lesson credited or rescheduled, parents must notify the ITP Teacher at least 24 hours in advance if the student will be absent from the ITP lesson, unless it’s due to a sudden illness. In the case of sudden illness, parents must inform both the ITP Teacher and the ITP Coordinator (ITPEast@uwcsea.edu.sg) by 7am on the DAY OF THE ABSENCE.
Below is a summary of our policy regarding absences and make-up lessons:
Absence or Situation
Make-up or Credit Guideline
Acceptable Absences
Make-up lesson or credit offered. (Examples: genuine illness when absent from school, school trips).
Unacceptable Absences
No make-up lesson offered. (Examples: excessive homework, social reasons, non-UWCSEA trips, routine medical appointments except in emergencies).
Paired Lessons
No make-up lessons offered for paired lessons.
Teacher Cancellation
Lesson will always be made up, credited to the next season, or refunded.
Internal Exams
Students on a suspended timetable for internal exams are responsible for rescheduling their lessons.
Enrolment in lessons is for the duration of a Season. Registrations will automatically roll over to the next season so there’s no need to register again. At the beginning of the new season you always have the option to withdraw. To help our ITP teachers better plan, we would appreciate it if you notify both the ITP Teacher and the ITP Coordinator (ITPEast@uwcsea.edu.sg) before the start of the next season. Grade 10 IGCSE and Grade 12 students should discuss with their ITP teacher about continuing lessons during exam periods.
Requests for a change of teacher should be submitted before the end of the current season.
Please note that requests received during a season will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and may result in the forfeiture of any paid lesson fees. We ask parents and students to think carefully before requesting a teacher change, as mid-season changes can disrupt learning and affect billing.
The College does not offer trial lessons.
