There are two types of CEMC tests. One type of test is a multiple choice test. Grade 9 students take part in the Pascal competition, grade 10 in Cayley competition and grade 11 in Fermat. This test is more suitable to beginners, however the questions in section C does provide a challenge to the talented students as well.
The other type of test has short answer questions as well as showing your working questions. The grade 9 students take part in the Fryer contest, grade 10 in Galois and grade 11 in Hypatia. A student is allowed to take only one of these contest per year. These contests have 4 questions which have a few parts to it. The first questions are not too challenging, while the last questions are more challenging. There also is the Euclid contest for grade 12 students. Students who took Fryer, Galois or Hypatia are allowed to take this competition. There are 10 questions in this contest each of which have a couple of parts to it. The first half is not too challenging, but the second half is more challenging.
