This site gives information about the areas of need, defines high and low incidence, and looks at some of the conditions you may find children coming in to the setting with. It would be impossible to give information about every condition, and as every child is different, and conditions will affect the child's abilities and behaviours differently, this site is designed to outline some of the basics, and give you direction to do your own research. Part of being a SENCO is being able to research conditions and behaviours so you can tailor this research according to the needs which are presented to you; you will become skilled in researching behaviours and signs of SEND as each new child comes to your care.
