Ongoing Planning and Reflection- Trello/Hack and Plan

Initial Plan

My initial plan for this is to make an animation about stalking and it involves a lot about mental health and how people can react to this. It was supposed to be an intro to a game but I slowly went into the idea of just a short and snappy animation that shows the creepiness and uncanny atmosphere of stalking. I made the decision for it to be a psychological horror.

Reflection 1

Planning Update: No. 1

What did you do this week?

Creating ideas and small research.

What went well?

The list of different ideas.

Why did it go well?

My different ideas weren't bad or hard enough for me to get stuck on, and they were just out of my range with experience so I could still mess up and work on improvement.

What didn't go well?

Nothing went bad, just a few minor slip ups with understanding how to write my pre-research down and I kept having to reference from other sites to understand it.

Why didn't it go well?

This is my first time using this layout.

What have you learned this week?

I've learnt a lot of things, I have learnt to add links more often and also remembering to share my work to access.

Are you on schedule compared to your action plan?

I am on schedule, everything's going alright so far.

What do you plan to do next week?

I plan to keep going forward and start keyresearch as soon as possible.

I have started on key three ideas, this is so I can keep going forward. I had thought about choosing the animation path for my fmp whilst deciding, this is because I'd like to expand and show my skills in storytelling and animation.

Reflection 2

Planning Update: No. 2

What did you do this week?

This week and the past weeks were planning and small developing.

What went well?

I think my idea generation went well and I discovered a very interesting plot.

Why did it go well?

The plot is something different, it's more inspired by psychological horror and I usually do horror that's more violence or scary monsters. This is why I think my idea went well since I'm getting out of my comfort zone and trying to do an area that I'm familiar with yet not too experienced with.

What didn't go well?

I think that my time management wasn't as great.

Why didn't it go well?

It didn't go well as I intended but that's because I tend to get bored of doing the same work, I tend to skip work and go back to it but I guess some problems came in the way this week.

What have you learned this week?

I've learnt a lot of things, specifically how to consistently work and also laying out my work nicely.

Are you on schedule compared to your action plan?

I am a bit behind with some work but all of this I'm going to easily catch up with during the weekend.

What do you plan to do next week?

I plan to do more research with character design and a story mountain.

I have made a trelloboard today which I hope will help me progress more and keep on schedule. I'm also trying to start working on myself when it comes to also doing work outside of class, which will help me get more progress done.

What did you do this week?

Some average work, I did more proposal research and also did a big mindmap to help me create my idea.

What went well?

I now have somewhat of a direction I'm going towards now.

Why did it go well?

I have the theme I'm going though with and that helps me plan for the future and I will start working towards that theme.

I keep slacking on a certain animation that I chose to analyse.

To use miro when wanting to create big mind maps. Helps a lot.

I did a lot of work this week, and I did a lot of work on programs I'm not familiar with. I think overall everything I did this week was okay, I didn't do much but it's a good start for my first project.

What did you do this week?

Not a lot as I was incredibly busy with my home life but I tried to push through. I also created a story for my work.

What went well?

I did a lot of research and practical processes.

Why did it go well?

They showed I had skills for animation before and also showed I'm learning a new program.

What didn't go well?

I didn't show all of my process, some experimentation and problem solving areas are missing

Why didn't it go well?

I didn't feel motivated or organised this week to push myself with presentation.

What have you learned this week?

Procreate Dreams mostly.

Refine my story that I've chosen and start refining more of the characters and write a story mountain.

What did you do this week?

I did not do anything major this week, I was struggling due to personal issues.

What went well?

I wasn't too behind, I had most things done and I felt comfortable to leave it here until we came back after the half term.

Why did it go well?

I did a lot of work the other weeks and tried to push myself during some hard times.

What didn't go well?

I still have a lot of research that I've already researched on that I keep forgetting to add into my proposal and key research pages.

Why didn't it go well?

I get unmotivated to write up important things.

What have you learned this week?

To start pushing myself to get more work done.

What do you plan to do next week?

I plan to get back on schedule and start working to a standard again.

I did nothing this week that was major or anything that I classify as work. I was mostly resting and that's okay, I will definitely start working more as I did do some sketches of characters which will help my inspiration for more work in the future.

What did you do this week?

I first started off this week with some work, I did a lot of character designs and wrote more research of the character's background. I did mood boards beforehand and wrote about why I did those moodbaords.

What went well?

A lot went well, I did a lot of character design and finished most of my proposal work too.

Why did it go well?

I felt better after my break, this gave me a lot of motivation to start finishing things and

What didn't go well?

I keep stressing about my animation and I still haven't properly analysed some animations again.

Why didn't it go well?

The time I have is slipping out my hands, the deadline is getting closer.

What have you learned this week?

I have learnt how to do character design more like professionals.

Yes, but I feel like my action plan is a bit outdated to my current plan now.

What do you plan to do next week?

Start working on my animation.

I'm glad I did a lot of research behind my characters, it gives them more thought out designs and backstory. Also gives a good story for the animation. I am glad I'm stressing around the deadline and animation process as that motivates me a lot to keep pushing myself forward towards my final goal.

What did you do this week?

I started and finished my animation this week. This includes the storyboard as well.

What went well?

I fully coloured my animation and put all of the scenes together

Why did it go well?

Because I managed to gain a lot of motivation to finish this project, this made me want to colour each frame which was a higher expectation than my Moscow.

What didn't go well?

I felt like the story was a bit rushed and cramped into the video.

Why didn't it go well?

I could've presented my animation's story better if I didn't push myself to make it fully coloured and with actual animation scenes.

What have you learned this week?

How to make a storyboard and how to make an animation.

Finish writeups and final effects and audio for my animation.

I did a lot this week and I'm proud of the outcome. A lot of animation was done and work around story mountain and story board. I am glad I went further with my work and exceeded my Moscow expectations.

What did you do this week?

I finished write ups, also finished a lot of areas like sound and effects.

What went well?

My visual effects on my video went well.

Why did it go well?

I made a very cool effect that adds to the eeriness of the animation.

What didn't go well?

I haven't uploaded it on YouTube yet to get reviews and audience perspective.

Why didn't it go well?

It's good to have audience perspective incase of changing it. I also just want to show my class the final product.

What have you learned this week?

To start writing down things that pop up in my head in the moment.

Are you on schedule compared to your action plan?

I'm not sure, I'm falling a bit behind...

What do you plan to do next week?

I want to finish all of the things on my checklist and check up on my trelloboard again.

I started slacking when it came to my trelloboard, forgetting to use it. Overall I did okay, I did a lot of final touch ups around my animation and I finished all of the writing I needed done in the Proposal and Key Research parts, leaving only a bit of development diary to finish.

Final product.

What did you do this week?

I finished all of my final work and writeup.

What went well?

I think my presentation of my work is good, I changed a lot around so it would look more presentable.

Why did it go well?

I focused on what was confusing to me and applied to it to the things I found confusing.

What didn't go well?

I think I rushed everything to the last day which was kind of a bad decision.

Why didn't it go well?

It wasn't a good decision as it may have overworked me a bit and rushed me with some writing, this also effected me getting done immediately.

What have you learned this week?

A lot about time management, I actually think I didn't do bad for time management it was just this final area I struggled on.

Are you on schedule compared to your action plan?

I think I pretty much am.

What do you plan to do next week?

Relax! Fix any problems that my tutor needs me to fix.

Proposal Update and reflection

I think I did a lot of work this week and overall just for the whole project. I am very proud with the amount of work that I have done this week but I wish I could've done more during weekends and perhaps spent more time doing it at home. This week I really pushed myself and got most of the things done. Now all is left is a very detailed evaluation which is my favourite part.
