NCAA

ABOUT THE NCAA:

If you plan on playing a sport in college, it is important that you are taking NCAA approved courses throughout your high school career. You must also register with the NCAA eligibility center if you plan on playing a Division I or Division II sport. To be successful in college, students need to be prepared for college coursework. In Division I and Division II, the NCAA sets academic initial-eligibility standards that take into account GPA, standardized test scores, core courses taken in high school and the grades earned in those core courses.

WHAT ACTION YOU NEED TO TAKE:

If playing a sport in college has ever crossed your mind, you must tell your coaches and counselor (as early as possible). The NCAA approves certain courses taught in high school and it is important that you are taking those specific courses if you want to play a sport in college. It is recommended that you register with the NCAA in the spring semester of your junior year in order to avoid pitfalls and ensure ample time for processing. The cost is $65.00 and a one time only fee. If you qualify for fee waivers for the ACT/SAT you may also qualify for a fee waiver for NCAA Registration. See your counselor regarding fee waivers.
