Goals and Expectations

GOALS: The goal of the Edgar Elementary Title One Reading Program is to help students become lifelong successful readers. Our Title One Reading Teachers will provide small group reading instruction to help build individualized reading student goals. Students will begin by reading at their current reading ability level and work to gradually increase their reading level. The overall goal is to help the student read at the current grade level expectation.

EXPECTATIONS:

• Students are expected to read at home each night on a regular basis.
• Parents will be partners in helping their child to become lifelong readers.
• Students are required to put in their best effort at all times.
• Students will follow all school Wildcat Expectations.
• Students will return their books (in the same condition) on a daily basis.
• Students will come to class on time and prepared with their reading folder, book, reading log, and pencil.

DISMISSAL PROCESS:

When students reach the Fountas & Pinnell grade level reading expectations, or teachers feel that the student no longer needs support in the area of reading, the student may be dismissed from the program. An official letter will be sent to notify the parent of their child's dismissal in Title One.
