Writing

Writing is an important part of the Language Art Curriculum and is used across the content areas to communicate in writing their thoughts, ideas, and understanding.

Students will:

*use the writing process: prewrite (brainstorm ideas), writing first draft, editing, revising, and writing the final draft

*connect to the 6 Writing Traits: ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence fluency, conventions, and presentation

*write several types of writing such as letters, book reports, research reports, stories, explanations, and instructions

*be expected to use correct handwriting which means: correctly formed letters, holding pencil and placing paper properly, letter size, use of line, and introduction to cursive writing
