Interactive Media is a career tech prep program that studies computer software and technology to create advertisements, websites, animations, videos, and many other means of visual and print communication. Students will study graphic design, photography, video production, audio production, multi-media production, web page design, digital design production, and animation. Students learn to use digital design software such as, Dreamweaver, Flash, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Students in this program will be prepared for one of the fastest growing careers in the business industry.  In this program, students develop a portfolio of their work for future college and job opportunities. 

Information Technology (Standards)

This course is the foundational course for the Computer Networking, Computer Systems and Support, Computing, and Interactive Media Pathways. This course is designed for high school students to understand, com­municate, and adapt to a digital world and its impact on their personal life, society, and the business world. Exposure to foundational knowledge in hardware, software, programming, web design, IT support, and networks are all taught in a computer lab with hands-on activities and project-focused tasks. Students will understand the concepts and apply their knowledge to situations and defend their actions/decisions/choices through the knowledge and skills acquired in this course. Competencies in the co-curricular student organization, FBLA, are integral components of both the employability skills standards and content standards for this course.

Design Techniques (Standards)

Students will become proficient in creating, designing, and producing multimedia products and services. This College Tech Prep program will focus on digitally generated or computer enhanced media. Students will use multimedia technology to develop products and programs for business, training, entertainment, communications, and marketing. 

Students will learn techniques for transforming photographic images, through use of digital cameras, computers, and mobile devices. To accomplish this, they will learn software photo editing techniques including layering, color correction, masking, and special effects using current commercial and open source programs and applications. 

Web Design (Standards)

Fundamentals of Web Design includes an overview of the basic principles of designing web pages. Students will use the planning process to create web pages. Students will learn the dynamics of the Web environment while pursuing an in-depth study of both Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Web based protocols such as FTP, TCP/IP, and HTTP will be addressed. Students will create a website with tag text elements, special characters, lines, graphics, hypertext links, and graphical tables.

Video & Sound (Standards)

Audio Video Production is an introduction and overview of the visual and audio media world. Students learn the fundamentals of video and audio production using a variety of equipment.  Students will create professional video and audio productions for distribution in traditional and new media channels. Students will plan, produce, edit, and launch media products. Students will develop scripts and storyboards, compose shots and operate cameras, capture sounds using microphone hardware, apply special effect techniques, and edit to achieve the final product. Students will be able to use animation and graphic design for video.
