After 3 years together, from the planning to the implementation of all the activities we had imagined together for our students.
It was very nice to spend this final week in Sicily and see the understanding that was created between the teachers and above all between all the students involved.
There was no shortage of tears and moments of great emotion.
Everyone said goodbye with the awareness of having many new friends around Europe to meet again.
Thank you Erasmus+
On the morning of the first day, the Headmistress welcomed the students in the auditorium and handed out their identification badges. The school band performed the Italian national anthem and entertained with some rock pieces during the closing moments. After enjoying an Italian-style breakfast together, the students boarded the bus to head towards Palermo.
Exploring Sicily's Natural Jewel: A Sustainable Tourism Journey through Riserva dello Zingaro
In the heart of Sicily lies a pristine sanctuary of breathtaking beauty and ecological significance – Riserva dello Zingaro. As part of an international initiative promoting sustainable tourism, our group embarked on an unforgettable expedition through this coastal paradise.
Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, we set out to explore the reserve's rugged trails, immersing ourselves in its rich biodiversity and stunning vistas. With each step, we marveled at the sheer magnificence of the Mediterranean landscape, from towering cliffs to secluded coves kissed by crystalline waters.
Amidst our journey, we paused to indulge in a taste of local tradition – the famed "pane cunzato". This rustic delicacy, synonymous with the region, captivated our palates with its simple yet exquisite flavors, a true reflection of Sicily's culinary heritage.
As we savored each bite, we reflected on the significance of sustainable travel – not merely as a means of exploration, but as a commitment to preserving the natural wonders that enrich our lives. Through responsible tourism practices, we honor the delicate balance between conservation and enjoyment, ensuring that future generations may also revel in the splendor of Riserva dello Zingaro.
Our visit to Riserva dello Zingaro serves as a testament to the transformative power of sustainable tourism – a journey that not only deepens our connection to the natural world but also inspires us to become stewards of its beauty. As we bid farewell to this enchanting sanctuary, we carry with us memories that will forever remind us of the profound impact of mindful travel.
The distance traveled was approximately 7 km, which could take approximately 4 hours.
The landscape that predominates is that of low scrub, broom and thyme, almond and ash trees and carob trees.
The coastal path is enchanting in its chrome of contrasting colours. The rock and the water, the white stone and the green of the dwarf palm, sprayed as if on the canvas of an abstract painting, throughout the entire journey. Scattered throughout the Reserve there are also equipped areas in which to rest and where our boys tasted the typical "pane cunzato".

As we traverse these hallowed grounds, we embrace a collective commitment to nurturing sustainable tourism, ensuring that our footsteps today pave the way for a more resilient and harmonious tomorrow
"Embarking on an enchanting journey to Agrigento's iconic Scala dei Turchi as part of a dynamic international initiative promoting sustainable tourism. Against the backdrop of its stunning white cliffs and azure waters, we are reminded of the imperative to tread lightly upon the earth while savoring the timeless beauty of this natural wonder. Through responsible exploration and mindful stewardship, we honor the delicate balance between preservation and admiration, ensuring that future generations can also revel in the splendor of this coastal marvel.
The Farm Cultural Park functions as a vibrant workshop for social innovation, facilitating collaboration among local communities and creative individuals to address societal challenges and devise innovative strategies. It serves as a dynamic space where participants work together to optimize resources, promote reuse, regeneration, reinterpretation, revitalization, and cultivation.
Its primary objective is to instigate cultural shifts within urban settings, showcasing the boundless potential of human creativity in tackling contemporary issues and seizing opportunities. Situated just under 10 kilometers away from Agrigento, in the town of Favara, with a population of approximately 30,000 residents, and boasting an ancient center that flourished since prehistoric times but suffered from significant depopulation in recent years due to limited prospects for youth and families. Recognizing the chance to chart a new course and reverse the city's decline across structural, social, and economic realms, the Farm Cultural Park sought to infuse vitality through art and architecture.
Favara's transformation from relative obscurity to a beacon of artistic and cultural dynamism is akin to a small miracle in the context of Italy's numerous abandoned villages. By leveraging its rich history as a foundation, the town is forging a future fueled by the vibrant energy of art and culture.
Inspired by its award-winning achievements, the Farm Cultural Park is expanding its reach with the establishment of a second site in Mazzarino. Each location hosts a diverse array of experimental research projects, laboratories, and creative productions centered around themes such as arts, education, the environment, and urban placemaking.
Day 4 - Gole dell'Alcantara - Taormina
The shaping of the Alcantara riverbed dates back approximately 300,000 years, but the current morphology of the river within the Gorges section emerged from geological processes occurring over the past 8,000 years. The interaction between the river's water and the underlying magmatic mass led to expedited cooling, resulting in the creation of deep, irregular fractures, some of which exhibit chaotic patterns. These fractures intersected to form prismatic structures of diverse configurations, including horizontally arranged formations resembling a "stack of wood," gently arched shapes reminiscent of a "harp," and radial patterns resembling a "rosette." Among these formations, the most regular are the vertical structures known as "organ pipes," which can tower up to 30 meters in height.
Nestled along Sicily's coastline, Taormina is a captivating town renowned for its breathtaking panoramas and rich cultural heritage. Overlooking the azure waters of the Ionian Sea and framed by the majestic silhouette of Mount Etna, its setting is nothing short of spectacular. The town's centerpiece is the ancient Greek Theater, offering visitors unparalleled views amidst ancient ruins. Meandering through its labyrinthine streets, visitors encounter a blend of architectural wonders, from medieval marvels like Palazzo Corvaja to the ornate Baroque facades of churches like San Giuseppe. Taormina's vibrant atmosphere is enhanced by its bustling markets, charming cafes, and boutique shops offering local crafts and souvenirs. Whether basking in the sun on its pristine beaches or immersing oneself in its rich history and culture, Taormina promises an unforgettable experience for travelers seeking beauty and authenticity in Sicily.
