The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded over 140 years ago by the Blessed Father Michael McGivney, the Knights uphold four key principles as pillars of the order: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Father McGivney charged the Knights with two primary missions: to help widows and orphans and to oppose persecution of and discrimination against Catholics. Each fraternal year the organization performs a variety of service activities designed to advance each of these principles and missions.
Atlanta Council 660 was chartered in 1902 and is the second oldest Council in the state of Georgia. The Knights of Atlanta Council 660 donate their time, talent, and treasure to the Cathedral of Christ the King parish community while serving as “the strong right arm” of the Catholic Church.
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church.
