Chenggong High School is situated in the city center where government offices and important institutions abound. The campus is composed of five buildings with a playground in the middle. If you overlook the school from the sky, the entire campus looks like a standard square.
Covering a beautiful campus of 6,000 odd pings (2 hectares), the school comes complete with all the necessary facilities. Most of the classrooms and offices are located in the Bade Building and Siwei Building. The Qiusi Building has laboratories, special classrooms, and a delicatessen.
The Guanming Building is the oldest structure among the five, with a few offices and art classrooms. The sports Complex, constructed in 2009, is relatively new. Most importantly, there is a secret palace of butterflies hidden in the Sports Complex.
The Insect Science Museum is a must-visit for all guests, featuring over 40,000 butterfly and insect specimens enhanced by multimedia displays, light shows, and 3D models.
The museum was established in 1971 by Mr. Chen Wei-shou (陳維壽). In 2009, the museum relocated to its current location after the construction of the Sports Complex.
The museum exhibits not only Taiwan's local butterflies but also collections from around the world. As you step into the Butterfly Palace, you will be captivated by the breathtaking spectacle before you. The ceiling and the light of the palace are adorned with tens of thousands of real wings of butterflies, immersing you in the kingdom of butterflies.
Mr. Chen donated thousands of his insect collections to the school and founded the Insect Science Museum to showcase Taiwan's rich butterfly diversity and promote preservation efforts. The museum is not just about the specimens. Instead, it recreates the rare and close relationship between humans and butterflies during Taiwan’s transition from an agricultural to an industrial society half a century ago.
Back then, millions of butterflies were collected each year. This practice helped support impoverished Indigenous communities and fueled Taiwan's economic growth. The museum brings these often-overlooked stories to life, honoring the struggles of earlier generations, and it proudly claims the title of the world’s first "Insect Folklore Museum."

Apart from the regular classrooms, the school is equipped specifically with a variety of facilities to promote physical education and science education actively. We offer various venues for both students and faculty to engage in physical activity, including basketball courts, a gym, and outdoor fields, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and teamwork. We believe that physical well-being is just as important as academic performance, and our facilities reflect this commitment to holistic student development.
Also, we have chemistry labs, physics labs, and computer labs to not only introduce current scientific and technological information but also encourage students to become interested in scientific research and extend their scientific knowledge. Our goal is to create a dynamic learning environment where students can thrive both physically and academically.
