Dear GAA Students and Parents,
We have just finished our 8th week of school, which means that next week marks the end of our first term of school. Due to in-person restrictions, we will move our Parent Conferences to a digital platform, schoolbookings.net
On Monday, 26 October, parents will receive a link, which will allow them to make appointments with their student’s teachers. We encourage you to book early in order to have your choice of times. Please follow these procedures for best experience:
Review your student’s progress report with your child; ask questions; have them explain the data
Review your student’s classes and teachers from the Back to School site
Arrive to the Zoom meeting on time (Meetings are in 10 minute chunks)
Ask questions and share concerns with your student’s teachers
If the 10 minute time period is not enough, make arrangements to meet at another time
Maintain a dialogue with your student’s teachers throughout the year
If you have a need for meetings with the secondary leadership or student support teams, please email the appropriate person (please look at the Back to School site for a directory).
On another topic, please know that we will share any updated information we receive from ADEK as soon as we receive it. We have a number of inquiries about student Covid testing. We will communicate that information with you as soon as we have it.
Sincerely,
Kain Klinkhammer
Secondary Principal
Dear Students and Parents,
In order to limit the movement within the school, students will remain in classrooms for lunch, beginning Sunday, October 11th. Students will eat lunch in the dedicated areas and will not be permitted to go to Ground floor, until further notice.
We have requested Slices Cafeteria to set up the food distribution location near Planetarium on the 2nd floor to provide lunches for students who would like to purchase food.
The lunch must be ordered online 72 hours before via Slices website https://app.slices.ae/login and will be collected by students in the above mentioned distribution location. It is recommended to place orders on a Thursday for upcoming week.
Students may continue to bring lunch from home with their own utensils.
Please check out Slices Catering Section of the newsletter for useful documents:

We have implemented all reopening policies and we strictly follow all guidelines to maintain compliance at school to safeguard the return of students. This responsibility isn’t ours alone and as students of GAA, you must all be dutiful and commit to doing your part in keeping our school safe. This Code of Conduct is designed to create a community of care around all our students; by reading and signing the code and then acting accordingly, you set the example for your friends and fellow students.
Please feel out either one of the below forms and submit to Secondary Secretary at secsecretary_gaa@gemsedu.com:
All students must present negative Covid test results prior to arriving on campus. Please upload the test results through this link: High School Student Covid Test Results
Dear GAA Families,
In case you travel outside UAE during half-term long weekend, please remember to complete The Health and Travel Declaration form (online form). The paper form (English and Arabic) may be emailed to: communication_gaa@gemsedu.com.

We can all agree that this year is very unique and our lives are very different than before.
The 2020/2021 yearbook will have a very personal feel to it and will capture the craziness of this school year.
Due to safety restrictions and considering that number of our students are still on full distance learning, we will not have Stu Williamson take student formal photos at school this year. In case things change, we may schedule the photoshoot for March 2021.
This is where we need our Parents and Students' help:
For KG/Elementary, we ask that parents send a recent picture of their child doing anything they like, eating, playing, exercising... clear face and good lighting.
For MS/HS, we ask that students send us a selfie, that can be funny but appropriate.
Homeroom and advisory teachers will reach out to their students/parents shortly with details. We hope to get the photos before the Winter Break.
Let's make a delicious lemonade out of the lemons, so generously given by 2020!
