Issue # 5 - November 4, 2022
Dear GAA Families,
This week we celebrated the UAE Flag Day commemorating the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the ideals of justice, peace, tolerance, power, and moderation. It was a day full of academic and artistic learning activities highlighted by the playing and singing of the UAE National Anthem by the GAA Secondary Band and Elementary Choir while students proudly raised the UAE flag.
It was also the kick-off of a coming month full of activities that will serve to bring our GAA community together around our main priorities of cultivating a culture of kindness, promoting the value of a balanced lifestyle, and ensuring student-centered and purposeful learning. Some of this month’s activities include;
The International Baccalaureate Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Exhibition November 7-8, an empowering real-world assessment that permits student agency and the opportunity for students to present their achievements to a public audience.
Parent/Teacher Conferences November 9-11, providing the opportunity for teachers and parents to meet individually and share information on student academic progress and growth.
Administration of the Cognitive Ability Tests (CAT 4) to help recognize students’ academic levels and needs.
Athletic participation in the international NESAC Volleyball and Swimming tournaments.
GAAPA sponsored events such as the Great Kindness Challenge November 14-18 and the Fall Festival November 26.
Community activity culminating with our National Day celebration on November 29.
All of these events, with a focus on relationship building, contribute to unifying our GAA learning community. Let us continue to foster the potential of our students and instill a belief in the power of education in creating a more positive society.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm Regards,
Robert Rinaldo
Head of School
Dear GAA Parents,
As we all know, the country celebrates the UAE Flag Day on November 3rd, 2022, which coincides with the day the late HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan became president of the UAE.
At 11 am, Thursday, November 3rd, GAA students, Faculty, and staff members celebrated the UAE Flag day.
In honor of Flag Day, Students and staff dressed up in the UAE Flag color or UAE Traditional dress to celebrate this special occasion. GAA Band played the National Anthem while the whole school proudly stood up to sing in their classes. A group of high-school students, with the Head of School, Mr. Rinaldo, proudly raised the UAE flag during that time.
Elementary students, with their teachers, formed the human flag on the playground. GAA students enjoyed several learning activities during their classes to celebrate this special occasion to learn about the UAE Flag Day.
Finally, we thank you for your efforts, help, and support!
Happy UAE Flag Day! Hold it with pride and raise it high!
Sincerely,
Assistant Principal to Head of School
Samah Awad
