Non-COVID-related: If your child has chronic conditions such as asthma and severe allergies and is displaying symptoms similar to Covid-19:
Keep your child home until the symptoms subside. Due to the similarity of symptoms, your child may be considered a suspected case and asked to be tested with a negative PCR test.
Inform your department secretary, who in turn will notify your child's homeroom teacher.
We will ensure that child is set for distance learning.
Child will be able to return to school with doctor's note.
COVID-related: If your child experiences COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, fever or breathlessness:
Do not send to school and seek immediate medical care. Go onto the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) website Virtual Doctor to assess symptoms and determine if medical help, testing or home treatment is required.
If child has siblings at GAA attending in-campus, they must be quarantined at home as well.
Inform your department secretary, who will in turn notify Homeroom Teacher to enable Distance Learning for your child.
If your doctor requires COVID-19 PCR test, please show the school's official email at SEHA screening centers for complementary PCR test.
If your child tested negative and doctor confirms other illness, please keep child at home until symptoms subside and child is well.
Student(s) will be able to return to school after 2 consecutive negative COVID tests and doctor's medical certificate.
Non-COVID-related: If your child develops any symptoms during school hours:
The student will be flagged by the teacher and will be referred to the school clinic for triage. If child does not have fever or any other COVID-19 symptoms, Nurse will contact the parent to investigate any possible illness at home by family member. Depending on the condition of the child, parent may be asked to collect from school.
If student is sent home, parent must provide doctor's medical certificate for return to campus.
COVID-related: Your child will be considered as a suspected case of Covid-19, if displaying any signs and symptoms such as cough, fever or breathlessness and:
Child will be moved to Quarantine Room, where they will be monitored by a School Nurse.
Nurse will contact the parents immediately to retrieve the child from the school.
The school shall not administer any medicines to the child.
The school will inform the parents about the nearest hospital and COVID-19 testing center.
If the child tests positive for COVID-19, parents are mandated to inform the school so that they can take measures to secure the health of other students and staff who may have been exposed to the virus.

Once a positive case is confirmed, school leadership/medical team will work with health authorities to identify a list of those in close contact.
Close contact is anyone to have been in close proximity to a positive case. Anyone that has spent longer than 15 minutes, at a distance of less than 2 meters, including people you study with, work with or travel on a bus with. Also includes your family, and anyone that resides in your household.
Contact tracing will begin from 2 days before the onset of symptoms or the positive PCR test result.
Close contacts receive a call from the school to advise that they stay in quarantine for 14 days. It is critical that your parent contact details are correctly on file with the school. This includes emails and local mobile numbers.
All areas which may have been accessed will be thoroughly deep cleaned and sanitized following any suspected cases. These areas will be closed immediately until the deep clean is completed.
Positive case: They must show a Clearance Report from SEHA or their Health Care Provider confirming they are clear to return to school. This report shows the high-level history of the case including date confirmed positive, the 2 negative results and that the patient has completed the isolation period.
Contacts of the positive case: contacts must continue their 10 day home quarantine, even if they test negative, and are only allowed back in school after receiving 2 consecutive negative test results (approximately day 1 and day 8 testing).
PARTIAL CLOSURE: In the case of a single confirmed infection, all contacts must self-isolate for 14 days, possibly including members of their household. The areas which may have been accessed will be closed immediately until the deep clean is completed.
FULL CLOSURE: In the case of two or more confirmed cases, the school will move to distance learning for a minimum of 14 days. Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) and ADEK must be notified immediately. Further details will be communicated by health authorities.
