Every month Middle School advisory classes focus on an IB Learner Profile attribute as part of the social-emotional learning component of advisory. The attribute for January is “Open-Minded”. The IB states that open-minded students critically appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, as well as the values and traditions of others. They seek and evaluate a range of points of view, and they are willing to grow from the experience. Throughout the month - advisories will engage in discussions about being open-minded and how this impacts their interactions with peers as well as it contributes to the greater good of the school community. Parents are encouraged to discuss the learner profile at home which helps students further understand how these concepts apply in their daily lives.
