INTERNATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION

Dear GAA Families,

We pride ourselves in being a multicultural, diverse community. Our school is home to students from more than 80 countries, with the cultural contributions from their own unique backgrounds, experiences and knowledge.

Every year we celebrate our diversity by putting together the best family event “International Food Festival”. This year, due to current situation, we will not be able to enjoy the delicious food, amazing performances, colorful national costumes of our wonderful families. As experience taught us, when there is a will, there is a way! We will need your help to celebrate this year! Here are the ways every family can contribute:

Send a video of your child or the whole family (the more - the merrier!) greeting in your language. You are welcome to wear your national costume or film it in front of your Country’s flag.
Send a recipe of your national food. We will compile it into a GAA Recipe Book and share with our families to enjoy!

Dear GAA Families,

GAAPA is compiling a site that can put all of our collective information into one place and we need your help. This is an opportunity to share some of the great resources you have found in Abu Dhabi during this Covid-Era.

Please share any "hidden gems" that your family enjoys in Abu Dhabi (indoors, outdoors, or online). Know a place where kids can have fun outside? Take music lessons? Parents learning another language? We welcome all suggestions. GAA reviews submissions before publication.

PARENT WHATSAPP GROUPS

Dear GAA Families,

This school year has been a challenge for sure! In order to help connect our families we have started WhatsApp Groups for each grade level. This is a good place to ask questions, get information, etc. We do ask that these groups are only used for school purposes and stay positive. We want to help develop a great community at GAA and the pandemic has made it challenging. We hope these groups will help. GEMS AMERICAN ACADEMY PARENTS ASSOCIATION (GAAPA)

MISSION STATEMENT

An excellent and successful school depends on the healthy partnership between teachers, parents, students and the community. As the identified parent association, GAAPA’s mission is to work in collaboration with the school to encourage a sense of community through events and activities that enrich our children’s educational experience at GEMS American Academy. GAAPA will support, assist and cooperate in events aligned with the school program. GAAPA believes in fostering the tradition of kindness and caring that exists within the school. Within our vast community of learners, we would like to promote the notion of unity in diversity that promotes an acceptance of different cultures and people.
