Dear Families,

Please take time to read below letter from Mr. Rinaldo regarding the changes to school week, which will become effective as of January 1, 2022.

أَولياء الأمور الكِرام،

تحيّة طيبة وبعد،

بمناسبةِ الاحتفال باليوم الوطني لدولة الإمارات العربيّة المتحدة، يوم اتّحادها العظيم. يطيبُ لنَا أنْ نرْفَعَ أسمى آياتِ التّهاني والتّبريكات لسموّ رئيس الدّولة الشّيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيَّان ونائِبِه وإخوانِه حُكّام الإمارات ووليِّ عهده الأمين.

وبصدد هذه المناسبة احتفلنا في مدرسة أكاديميّة جيمس بهذا اليوم الّذي كرّسه التّاريخ عنوانًا للوحدة والصُّمود، فتزينت مدرستنا بألوان الفرح والسّعادة احتفالاً باليوم الوطني، ورُفعت أعلام الدّولةِ عاليًا ابتهاجًا، كما عَلت أصوات طلابنا الأعزاء تمجيدًا لهذا اليوم العظيم.

نظمت المدرسة حفلاً ضخمًا بمناسبةِ حلولِ الذّكرى الخمسين لاتحاد دولة الإمارات العربية، وقد تضمن الحفل الكثير من الفعاليّات الّتي قدمها ونظمها طلاب المدرسة في الملعب للتّعبير عن حبهم وانتمائهم لدولة الإمارات العربيّة المُتحدة، بالإضافة إلى الكثير من الأنشطة الّني نُظمت في الملعب الّتي تُبيّن وتَشرح تُراث إماراتنا الحبيبة و تسعى لإحياء الهُويّة الإماراتيّة ونشرها، كالألعاب التّراثيّة،، الرّسم على الوجوه، عروض السيرك والصّقر، الأعمال الحرفيّة، ورش عمل للأطفال، والخيم التّراثيّة ، بالإضافة إلى الاستمتاع بالأغاني التُراثيّة ورقصات اليولا من قبل صقور مدرسة أكاديميّة جيمس الأمريكيّة.

واعتزازًا بتضحياتِ الشّهداء وتعبيرًا حيًّا عن تضامننا مع أُسَرهم، وقفنا على أنغامِ النّشيد الوطنيّ وقفةَ عزٍّ وشموخٍ إجلالاً وإكبارًا لتضحيات الشّهداء.

لعب هذا الاحتفال دورًا فاعلاً في توضيح عادات وتقاليد الشّعب الإماراتي للكثير من الطّلاب وأولياء الأمور، كما استمتع الجميع بارتداء الزّي الإماراتي ورُفع علم الدّولة في أجواءٍ من المرح والسّعادة. كما لا يسعنا إلا أن نتوجه بجزيل الشّكر والعرفان لكل من ساهم معنا في إنجاح هذا الاحتفال العظيم إن كان من خلال تقديم العون والدّعم لنا. وأخصّ بالذّكر هنا أولياء الأمور الكرام وطلابنا وأساتذتنا ومعلماتنا الّذين عملوا معنا يدًا بيد لإنجاح هذا العمل، فبمساهمتكم ودعمكم يتكامل عملنا.

أدام اللّه الأمان والأفراح عامرة في هذه البلاد.

كلُّ عامٍ وأنتِ عروس الكون يا الإمارات.

Dear GAA Parents;

We salute our beloved country as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the union that marked the beginning of a blessed march toward progress and development.

On this day, we remember the founders of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his companion the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and their brothers the rulers, who all met on 2nd December 1971, armed with their deep belief in their country and with deep interest in the people, eventually led the birth of the United Arab Emirates and the onset of the country’s renaissance.

On the 29th of November 2021, GAA celebrated an extraordinary UAE National Day Assembly to commemorate this special occasion. We enjoyed a daylong National Day celebration with assemblies, a heritage fair, Falcon and magic show, face painting, and lots of traditional foods and workshops!

Thank you to all for making our National Day an incredible community event. We heard many, many positive comments throughout the day from parents, students, teachers, and staff members- all proud and excited about the sense of community and celebration.

We would like to send out a massive Thank you to all of our parents, students, teachers, and staff members who Supported the school celebrated this special day.

“What did you do at school today?”

Hello GAA Community!

We have had quite a finish to 2021! There have been so many positives to celebrate and highlight. With that in mind, I wanted to take a minute to discuss how to ask your child about their school day. Of course, as parents, we want to know how their day was, but there are ways that we can ask them questions that help us to understand what they have learned and how they feel about it, and not just what they did.

Social Emotional Questions

• What happened today that made you the happiest?

• Did something happen today that really made you laugh?

• Who did you collaborate with today and what made them a great group member?

• How did you show kindness today? How do you think that made others feel?

Determination and Effort

• What was the hardest thing you did today and how did you overcome it?

• How will you challenge yourself to be even better tomorrow?

• What didn’t go to plan today? What did you learn from that?

Academic

• What concepts did you use today?

• How can you use the things you learned today to impact the world?

• Why do you think you learned the things that you did today?

• What new word or idea did you hear about today? Why is it interesting?

Asking these types of questions to your children will ensure that the concepts and ideas that we are teaching throughout the day are reinforced at home. This is just like practice. The more chances students use the words and think about the ideas, the better and deeper understanding they will have.

Not long ago, we also had our grade 1, 3, 5, 8, and 10 students write the CAT4 assessment. If you are interested in these results, please reach out to your respective secretary or vice-principal.
