Dear GAA families,
A very happy new year and welcome back. It has been great to catch up with the students on live sessions and hear about their news from winter break. Staff and students were excited to see each other and get started on the next phase of their learning. Thank you for your support with activities on SeeSaw and collaborating with teachers as students get back into routine.
We are ready to welcome our in-school learners back on January 17th. Kindergarten will continue with alternating A/B day’s to ensure the health and safety of our younger students. As always, we are here to support in any way we can and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need anything.
As we settle in to January, we reflect on how far our community has come since the beginning of the year. We see the resilience of our students and all of the new skills they have learned over the last few months. We admire how they have adapted to the new normal of remote learning, social distancing, wearing masks and so much more. We look ahead to the new beginnings of 2021 and we stand ready to continue our commitment to supporting our community and ensuring our students have a successful and fulfilling learning journey here at GAA.

In KG2H, we’re all about play in a socially distanced way. In math, we’ve been learning about 2D shapes. We used this knowledge to cut and create our very own gingerbread houses. In literacy, we’ve been learning the letters and sounds of the alphabet. We practiced our letter formation using shaving cream on our desks. And for art, we learned how to use different mediums such as paint and sponges to create textured pictures with varying ombre shades.

نسعى في قسم رياض الأطفال أن يتعلم الطّلبة الأخلاق الإِسلامية التي تحثّهم على المحبة، الاحترام، التّعاون ، الأمانة.
كما تعلم طُلابُنا السّور القصيرة، والأحاديث النّبوية الشّريفة.
كما أنهم استمتعوا بقصة نبيّنا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم.

In the Kindergarten department, we strive for our students to learn Islamic morals that inspire them to love, respect, cooperation and trust. Our students also learned short surahs and hadiths, and they enjoyed the story of our beloved Prophet Muhammad.

The 2020/2021 yearbook will have a very personal feel to it and will capture the craziness of this school year.
Due to safety restrictions and considering that number of our students are still on full distance learning, we will not have Stu Williamson take student formal photos at school this year. In case things change, we may schedule the photoshoot for March 2021.
This is where we need our Parents and Students' help:
For KG/Elementary, we ask that parents send a recent picture of their child doing anything they like, eating, playing, exercising... clear face and good lighting.
For MS/HS, we ask that students send us a selfie, that can be funny but appropriate.
Homeroom and advisory teachers will reach out to their students/parents shortly with details. We hope to get the photos before the Winter Break.
Let's make a delicious lemonade out of the lemons, so generously given by 2020!
