Students in second grade were able to create their own video using Apple Clips. I encourage classroom teachers to make room for innovation!

These students were given minimal directions to create a small video clip. They were handed a device and were provided free creative expression. This is a reminder that although adults may be hesitant to experience technology, our students are ready to meet these challenges. So, we as educators must provide the platform to make this happen. How often do we default to what's familiar or comfortable? How often do we advocate for innovation instead of a computer-based "intervention". In my opinion, interventions should be facilitated through a human interaction experience. So using web-based programs to check off a list for intervention implementation is a disgrace to our future leaders. When will we take a stand in public education by making better decisions for how and why we use technology? The students in this video are not polished with perfect video etiquette, however it's a start in the right direction.

Digital Literacy

Based on the information provided from the digital literacy survey. I show strength in my abilities to problem solve, communicate and collaborate.

However, my weakness is in creating digital content. Let me be clear, it is not my inability to create digital content, but more about the time and effort dedicated to producing a product. Honestly, I tend to be more of an over-thinker, some may say that I think too deeply into things. My ambition and attention to detail causes me to believe that if I don't have the proper time, space, and tools needed to create something awesome, I'd prefer not to do it at all.

Moving forward this will be the lead measure that will support my leadership role and how I influence creativity as I model creating digital content. My team and I have awesome technology tools, curriculum, and professional development. I strongly believe that I will be able to clear the path and coach my team to see the coding pilot curriculum through to greatness.
