Growth Mindset PLan

Every child has the potential to become great. It takes dedication, hard work, and patience to unlock the greatness in all children to make education a better place for the future. I believe in this within the depths of my soul. Due to the rapid changes in technology, I find it very difficult to keep up with the digital trends that are meaningful and helpful to the teachers I support. We are required to use many instructional tools. Quite frankly, it is a lot that teachers are expected to implement. I think its too much. I don't believe in complaining without solutions. However, my growth comes with using the same tools classroom teachers are using and strategically modeling effectiveness by weeding out what is soon to be outdated and using tools that are transferable in the long run. I commit to utilizing my leadership skills to clear the path for teachers and serve as a role model for what most believe is impossible or ineffective. I intend to work with a group of students who are in the Stem club to assist me as student leaders in classrooms. We will use the provided Apple curriculum as an enrichment to develop 21st century skills needed to become developers of an app. This app will use keynote to develop animation skills, coding, and digital design that will provide future ready skills needed in the future. The STEM club will serve as experts in the PBL process and support the class room teacher about the ongoing review app. At the end, students will have an opportunity to showcase their app to community members.

Most importantly, I will serve as a facilitator of the learning and create school environment spaces that promote blended learning with the use of the station rotation model to ensure academic needs are are met, co-teaching, face to face conferences with students, organize collaborative groups, and using Keynote as an instructional tool to monitor and adjust formative assessment.

Fall 2019

September through October 25th

Students will participate in "Genious" hour every friday. Coding pilot teachers will utilize coding curriculum as well as Keynote to teach coding and animation features in Keynote in preparation for their fall PBL showcase. Coding teachers will use Keynote and Clips for students presentations. This will develop and build capacity of the coding curriculum, which will also be the buildig blocks for the app prototype in the spring semester.

Spring 2019

Teachers will implement the app prototype PBL which will be directly linked to our innovation plan that support the conservation of paper and plastic. Students will create an app that provides access to Leader In Me digital portfolio notebooks. At the closure of the PBL (TBA) students will showcase their app prototype to district community members.
