Next Steps with the Online Learning Folder &
Setting Publication Dates for Folders

Within the Online Learning Folder, it is important to have content organized by week and day.

In this section, you will create weekly/daily folders in your sandbox course. For the daily folders, you will set the folder date/availability.

For attendance and participation purposes, it is important that daily folders be set to publish on the correct date.

To create a weekly folder for Online Learning Materials:

  1. In your Schoology Sandbox course, click on the Online Learning Folder

  2. While in the Online Learning folder, click on Add Materials

  3. Click on Add Folder

  4. In the Title box, type or paste: Week of [date] (example: Week of 8/10/20).

  5. Choose a folder color

  6. Click Create

To create a weekly folder for Online Learning Materials: In your Schoology Sandbox course, click on the Online Learning Folder While in the Online Learning folder, click on Add Materials Click on Add Folder In the Title box, type or paste:  Week of [date] (example: Week of 8/10/20). Choose  a folder color  Click Create

Remember, it will be easy to copy these folders into your courses later, and you will just have to edit the dates on the weeks/days.

Each weekly folder will include folders for each day of the school week. It is important that you set a date and availability for these daily folders, so that they do not appear in Schoology early.

Let's create a couple of those daily folders, being careful to include the date on which the folder should be published and paying attention to the availability setting.

To create daily folders for Online Learning Materials - with publication dates set:

  1. In your Schoology Sandbox course, click on the weekly folder that you just created (example: Week of 8/10/21).

  2. While in the weekly folder, click on Add Materials

  3. Click on Add Folder

  4. In the Title box, type or paste: Monday [date] (example: Monday 8/10/21).

  5. Choose a folder color

  6. In the Date box, choose the same date as you put in the title.

  7. In the Availability box, choose Publish on start date

  8. Click Create
    You will notice that the folder you created is now grayed out, and it says
    Unpublished · Available after [date/time].

  9. Go ahead and take a moment to create folders for the other weekdays (Tuesday-Friday).
