Didimo is the first and only engine that automatically creates a 3D virtual character from a single photo. In just two minutes, the application can generate a realistic avatar. The technology brings authenticity to virtual interactions and simplifies the way to integrate and scale the production of high-fidelity 3D characters.
In 2017 Didimo's founder, Verónica Orvalho, won first place in the Women Startup Challenge and AI, being the only Portuguese in this international competition. In 2020 she was also a finalist in the Portuguese Women In Tech awards (PWIT Awards), in the category of Best Portuguese startup founded by a woman.
In 2019 Didimo obtained two rounds of funding: one worth €1.86 million under the European Commission's SME Instrument programme and another of €4.4 million through a Portuguese fund composed of Portugal Ventures, Farfetch, Bynd Venture Capital, Beta-i and LC Ventures.
In 2020 it received investment again, this time in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding will be used to grow the team.
Didimo is also part of Portugal Ventures' portfolio of companies.
