19/20 - Industry 4.0

Prototype of an industry 4.0, communication between factory Io, codesys, node-red, influxDb and Grafana.

  • Factory IO - Simulates the manufactory

  • Codesys - Automates the manufactory

  • InfluxDB - DataBase to store the data

  • Node-red - Communication between codesys and influxDB

  • Grafana - Visualization and analyzation of data

19/20 - CorkID

CorkID is a patented idea to identify a cork stopper thus leading to traceability and anti-counterfeiting for example in wine industry

The work proposed in this course deals with finding a numeric hash from a photo of a cork in order to speedup image finding.

19/20 - "Dora": An Educational Robotics Platform

Robotics is a very broad subject that places many other under its umbrella, spanning from more abstract fields like software engineering and artificial intelligence to more concrete ones like electronics. This broad reach enables Robotics to become perfect space for learning any STEM subject. People of all ages can use robots to learn many subjects, provided that they have the right tools to do so. Many Robotics kits are available to consumers that try (and some do achieve) to accomplish this goal, like the LEGO MINDSTORMS kit with its simple to understand software and mechanical ecosystem. The kit is a good tool for beginners, as the Arduino environment is to those who wish to tackle more complex problems and expand their knowledge, especially spare electronics. Even though the Arduino - and similar - ecosystems do a very good job at providing a stable and straightforward way for consumers and makers to learn and explore they do not provide a clear path for electronics and engineering students to improve themselves and engage with those same subjects more deeply. There is a clear gap between the maker and academic community.

This is the premise behind the creation of the Dora multi-purpose educational robotics platform. This work intends to be a standard way of providing the tools a engineering student might need to deepen his or her knowledge in one, or more, fields, including participation in robotics competitions.
