Online Educational Resources on Nutrition

There aren’t many examples of courses, taught in universities, that are focused on supporting students in pursuing healthy lifestyles for themselves. Not to say that health education is lacking in higher education facilities, but that it is generally geared towards patients, withing the context of health majors. And while EDU-FIT doesn’t develop contents to fill this gap, there are some online resources that can be used to gain knowledge on the fields of nutrition and lifestyles. In partnership with the SHIFT-HUB project (https://shift-hub.eu/) and their catalog of educational resources, the EDU-FIT consortium has curated a collection of nutrition online contents that can be seen bellow:

Nutrition for Health and Sustainability

An EIT Health course teaches students on what makes up a healthy, sustainable diet and how certain food types can help to treat and prevent disease 

POWER2DM project: information for diabetes patients

The Power2DM platform , an Horizon 2020 funded project, covers unhealthy eating patterns, dietary guidelines, essential foods, sustainability in food production, and their effects on health, society, and the planet.

Food for Thought: The Relationship Between Food, Gut and Brain

Another EIT food course that helps learners understand the connection between diet, brain function, emotions, and eating behaviors, with a focus on psychological and neurobiological factors.

Trust in Our Food: Understanding Food Supply Systems

Also from EIT Food, this course enables learners to understand the global food system, food safety, nutritional information, food labels, and consumer choices.

Diabetes Explained

This course enables learners to explore diabetes, its types, risk factors, complications, and societal implications, while also learning about blood sugar control and testing.

Healthy eating guidelines for students

A talk by Martina Klemenak, that features guidelines for a balanced diet for students to maintain good health and enhance school performance. It details recommended macronutrient ratios, fiber intake, the importance of healthy fats, and sufficient protein consumption

How to translate nutritional guidelines into the practice

Presented by Zrinka Šmuljic, this video addresses factors contributing to overweight and obesity among university students, such as low physical activity and negative social influences. It emphasizes the importance of promoting healthy behaviors and translating nutritional guidelines into practice.
