At the "Hunting the Silent Killer" Conference, a public health initiative to raise awareness about contemporary major health threats such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes, physical inactivity, and poor nutrition which took place at the School of Medicine the University of Zagreb on November 11th, we presented the pannel on the EDU FIT project.
The panel featured a diabatoligist and endocrinoligst Maja Baretić, a nutritionist Zrinka Šmuljić, a kinesiologist Sanja Ćurković and a psychologist Barbara Raguž Pečur, as well as students. Participants were most interested in maintaining a healthy lifestyle while studying away from home.
Helena Polanščak, a fifth-year medical student with extensive experience studying far from her family, shared her insights on this challenge, while Fran Baretić had the opportunity to discuss his experiences during a student Erasmus+ exchange abroad. The panel was concluded with a discussion on students' life which is challenging but is also an ideal time to adopt healthy habits.
Health and education are equally important and this is the goal of the EDU-FIT project, which provides students with simple and easily accessible solutions on developing healthy life-style habits and preventing obesity.
