1st EDU-FIT online Workshop


EDU-FIT, is, among other activities, working on practical guidelines for healthier food preparation in university canteens and cafeterias. The project aims to raise awareness about the importance of developing healthy lifestyle habits and creating sustainable methods and practices to prevent obesity and overweight among contemporary generations of students and other target groups.


On May 17, 2024, from 14:00 to 16:00 CET, expert speakers from Slovenia, Croatia, and Slovakia will share their knowledge in nutrition and youth and discuss with the EDU-FIT consortium and community the best ways to achieve these goals.


The agenda includes a welcome and short review of best practices in obesity interventions in school and university settings and health authority guidelines for healthy school menus.

Natalia Kaloh Vid, Associate Professor at the Department of Translation Studies, University of Maribor, will present the EDU-FIT project and its goals.

Martina Klemenak, Nutrition Specialist at the Department of Paediatrics, University Clinical Center Maribor, will discuss healthy eating guidelines for students. 

Zrinka Šmuljic, Dietitian at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at University Hospital Centre Zagreb, will share how to translate nutritional guidelines into practice.

Eva Blaho, Nutritionist at Skutočne zdravá škola - The Real Healthy School, will present the "Zdrava škola" - "Healthy School" initiative. The event will conclude with a Q&A session.

The event will take place on the Zoom platform and is free of charge, but registrations are limited to 300 participants.
