Lake Garda Project

Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, located in a region where the pre-alpine mountains encounter the large Po Valley. The lake is full of natural beauty, history, and culture, which makes it a popular attraction with more than 20 million tourists every year. Nevertheless, from the physical point of view, Lake Garda is one of the most unexplored large Alpine lakes.

The University of Trento (Italy) is coordinating a series of activities aimed at improving the knowledge of this exceptional environmental system. Several national and international partners are involved in different projects within the same framework: an interdisciplinary Lake Garda Project (LGP).

The Utrecht University (The Netherlands), in collaboration with the University of Trento, is currently conducting an extensive 2-year field work in the lake.
