About Me
My name is Tatiana Magdalena Flores.
I recently graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, in the Department of Geography, with additional minors in GIS/T and Urban & Regional Studies. I am passionate about utilizing my geospatial skills to address issues of Environmental Injustice and finding ways to make these patterns easier to visualize and interpret. Ever since my first GIS class at UCLA, I have recognized how powerful map-making can be in displaying complex societal and social phenomena, which I am passionate about dedicating my time to do.
I currently work as a CLIMATE Justice Initiative Fellow at the University of California, Irvine, working closely in Dr. Benis Egoh's lab and community-based research with GREEN-MPNA in their CUAL Project. Before CJI, I worked at UCLA's Luskin Center for Innovation with Dr. Veronica Herrera and Daniel Coffee to produce an interactive map depicting plastic-burdened communities in California. You can find the report produced and the map here.
My GIS and Remote Sensing Portfolio contains GIS and Remote Sensing Projects that I have produced as an undergraduate at UCLA. Check to see how my maps have improved over the years! I am comfortable working with QGIS and ArcGIS Pro, as well as ENVI and Google Earth Engine.
