The Sunrise Movement is an environmental advocacy organization founded in 2017. The organization arose from discourse about climate change, and from the need to protest in order to make people more knowledgeable on climate change. The organization endorses liberal and Democratic Party candidates for public office and supports expansive and radical environmentalist legislation, such as the "Green New Deal."

The organization's goals and ambitions are to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people. They intend to do all this by electing politicians who will acknowledge climate change as an urgent issue and by supporting environmental legislation in hopes that they'll be passed, such as the "Green New Deal."
THE GREEN NEW DEAL
The Sunrise Movement is the foremost group behind the Green New Deal. The Green New Deal is legislative and fiscal policy framework centered around eliminating the use of fossil fuels and non-renewable energy sources in the United States, as well as major changes in infrastructure in various sectors. It also advocates for guaranteed employment, publicly funded higher education, and a living wage for all Americans. The Green New Deal stands against free-market based solutions and instead advocates for strong governmental intervention in environmental issues.

Endorsements
The sunrise movement endorses politicians who challenge the fossil fuel industry. Politicians who are against the actions of oil giants and act upon enforcing radical environmental legislation as a stand against climate change. Aside from Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, the Sunrise Movement is currently endorsing Jessica Cisneros for TX-28, Nina Turner OH-11, and Sam Rasoul for Virginia Lieutenant Governor.

The Sunset Movement is unique based on the fact that it is mostly ran by young people across America. The organization mostly consists of young people because they want to grow up in a world where there is no climate change, and a world where elected leaders pay more attention to the environment around them. Additionally, the movement chooses to not have any permanent endorsements as a way to choose community over individual authorities.
