Living in LA

The move to a new city, especially one as large and diverse as Los Angeles, can be daunting. Below are resources to prepare you for that undertaking.

Exploring

Around UCLA

UCLA is nestled in Westwood Village and is Los Angeles' premiere village centre - centrally located in the heart of Los Angeles, serving the neighborhoods of Bel Air, Holmby Hills, Wilshire Corridor, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Santa Monica.

Arts, Culture, & Attractions

Some of the world’s best-known museums, landmarks and attractions call Los Angeles home. In fact our city has more museums and theatres than any other city in the U.S. (105 museums and 225 theaters) including The Getty, LACMA and MOCA. As far as attractions and landmarks go, we proudly boast of the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Space Shuttle Endeavour at the California Science Center, Air Force One at the Ronald Reagan Library and Universal Studios – just to name a few.

The LA Food Scene

The food culture here in Los Angeles is a big deal. You’ll find gourmet food trucks (first started in Los Angeles) parked on corners throughout LA. After a review from LA Times’ notoriously adventurous food critic, you may soon find yourself waiting in a long line outside an inexpensive ethnic restaurant tucked inside a random strip mall. And it’ll be worth the wait.

A local farmer’s market happens every Thursday in Westwood Village, just south of UCLA and a stones-throw away from healthy grocery stores Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s.
