Special Permission Courses:
In order to register for any of the courses below, you will need special permission from Syracuse Abroad. To be considered for enrollment, you must meet these requirements:
List the course among your Primary Course Selections on your Course Preference Form (CPF); these courses can be found under [SP], indicating Special Permission.
Submit your CPF questionnaire by the Oct 21 deadline.
Availability is limited and decisions will be determined by student major or academic need. You will be notified by email in early November if you receive permission to register for any of the courses below.
Studio Arts courses:
If you have not been admitted to the Studio Arts (SA) program, you may request only one studio arts course on your Course Preference Form. Enrollment is subject to availability.
Non-Studio Arts Program students requesting an intermediate or advanced level studio course should be prepared to demonstrate their ability through samples of their work or evidence of prior coursework. Samples of this work will be reviewed once you're in Florence.
Design courses:
If you have not been admitted to the Design program, you may request one of the following DES courses on your Course Preference Form (enrollment is subject to availability):
DES 300.1 - Kitchens and Cultures: Domestic Interiors in Italian Societies
DES 300.2 - Bellissima! Unraveling the Threads of Italian Fashion
3. Engineering courses:
If you have not been admitted to the Engineering program, you may still request the following on your Course Preference Form (enrollment is subject to availability):
MAT 485 - Differential Equations and Matrix Algebra for Engineers
All other Engineering courses are expected to be filled by students accepted to the Florence Engineering program.
4. IRP/PSC 380.1 - International Conflict Transformation
This University of Florence course affords Syracuse Florence (SUF) students an exciting opportunity to study alongside Italian undergraduates. The class is taught in English on the SUF campus and follows the SUF calendar.
Maximum enrollment is 15.
Enrollment priority to International Relations and Political Science majors.
Students must attend a mandatory meeting during Welcome Week (more information available in the Orientation Booklet you receive when you arrive in Florence).
